The Empire Wind site extends 15-30 miles southeast of Long Island, spans 80,000 acres, and covers water depths between 65 and 131 feet. Empire Wind's lease area could have the capacity to produce up to 2,000 megawatts of electricity, enough to power more than 1 million homes. Each turbine is expected to have an installed capacity of 10-15 MW.
When complete, it will power more than a million New York homes.
